Mount Vernon City School District
In 2016, the Mount Vernon School District received public support for the funding of its 20/20 Vision. The approved bond supported full day Pre-K and converted district elementary schools into Kindergarten through eighth grade learning centers.
The 20/20 Vision created three unique high schools of excellence.

Mount Vernon High School offers both Career and Technology, and an International Baccalaureate Program. The STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) Academy will teach 9th-12th graders. The district houses a Performing Arts Program for 6th-12th graders at the Nellie A. Thornton School.

Collaboratively, the Mount Vernon Educational Foundation and the Mount Vernon School District will enrich the students' learning experiences.
